Tegan is a friendly patient teacher, good with both absolute beginners and advanced students. She is witty and knowledgeable and is also a brilliant performer!

I’ve had other teachers I really liked, but I’ve never felt as comfortable as I do with Tegan. She’s a serious and dedicated musician, but she has a sense of humour—and a sense of being human. I’ve made more progress in my few months with her than I did in the preceding years of study.

Tegan is a harpist well versed in her craft. She plays beautifully herself and understands the theory as well as the practice.
She is also an excellent teacher. She is patient with beginners and perceptive concerning the next steps for advanced students. She notices when a correction is needed but gives her advice in a positive and supportive manner.
Tegan is reliable. She is on time and prepared, and gives advance notice about schedule changes.
Best of all, Tegan is lots of fun. She has a delightful sense of humor and enjoys both the harp and the people she works with.

I needed a teacher who would provide a framework and give me some structure and direction but not one who would impose a single, rigid way of doing things. I found that in Tegan. She’s guided my study—and I’ve ended up doing repertoire I never thought I’d enjoy—but I’ve always felt that I had the final say. A great combination of flexibility and structure.

Tegan is a brilliant harpist and wonderful teacher. Her mode of teaching with humour makes it easy to learn and remember. I highly recommend her as a harp instructor.

Tegan is always on your side. When I started out and couldn’t get anything right, she didn’t make me feel foolish. Instead, I was sure she knew what I was going through. Better than that, I was sure she was utterly confident that I could become a competent musician. With her help, I have.

As a teacher myself, I find it difficult to be a student, and I’m hypersensitive to teachers who need to maintain control by flaunting their knowledge. Tegan’s view was that we were equals, engaged in an exploration of my musical skills, and ambitions and how we might work around the limitations imposed by the former to achieve the latter. It’s a work in progress, but I’m enjoying every minute—and I’m amazed by how far I’ve come.

Tegan is a patient, friendly and very capable teacher. She takes her students where they’re at, pays close attention to decide what the best next step will be, and is always positive and encouraging.
